Buttermilk Yeast Biscuits
1 c. warm buttermilk
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. melted shortening
1/2 c. warm water |
3-1/2 c. flour
2 T. sugar
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. baking soda |
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add buttermilk, sugar, and shortening.
Sift dry ingredients together, then add to wet mixture, a small amount
at a time. Place on floured board and knead until smooth. Roll out and
cut with a small biscuit cutter. Let rise one hour.
Bake about 12 minutes at 450° degrees.
