Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies
Combine:
1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 t. salt
1/4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda |
Beat on low until fluffy:
1 stick butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 t. vanilla |
Drain and save juice:
10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, halved |

Frosting
6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
4 t. cherry juice |

Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Beat until well blended.
Shape dough into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down
center with thumb. Place one well-drained cherry half in each center. In small saucepan, heat chocolate and milk until melted. Stir in 4 t.
cherry juice. Spoon 1 t. over cherries on cookies and spread to cover.
Bake at 320° for 10 minutes.
