Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 t. salt
1/4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
Beat on low until fluffy:
1 stick butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 t. vanilla
Drain and save juice:
10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, halved


6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
4 t. cherry juice

Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Beat until well blended. Shape dough into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center with thumb. Place one well-drained cherry half in each center.

In small saucepan, heat chocolate and milk until melted. Stir in 4 t. cherry juice. Spoon 1 t. over cherries on cookies and spread to cover. Bake at 320° for 10 minutes.
