Jones Fire Update (Wickenburg, AZ)

UPDATE 8:00pm - Our crews have safely restored the flow of gas and have begun relighting in the impacted area. They will make several passes through the community to attempt to restore natural gas service. Technicians will need access to customers’ natural gas appliances. All crew members will have proper identification. Please remember that someone 18 years or older must be present. Original Update 4:00pm -  As a proactive safety measure for the community affected by Jones Fire in Wickenburg, AZ, Southwest Gas has turned off gas service to portions of the area. Our thoughts are with those directly impacted by this fire. Southwest Gas is committed to working closely with emergency responders and city officials to continue implementing safety measures to safeguard our communities affected by this fire. As this is a developing situation, we will provide updates as they become available.
 
Southwest Gas reminds the public that a natural gas leak can be detected by:
  • A distinct sulfur-like odor, similar to rotten eggs, even if faint or momentary
  • An unusual hissing or roaring sound coming from the ground or an appliance
  • Blowing dirt, bubbling water, or discolored plants or grass near natural gas infrastructure or pipeline markers
If you see, hear, or smell signs of a gas leak, leave the area immediately, then call 911 and Southwest Gas at 877-860-6020. Learn more about natural gas safety and leak detection at swgas.com/safety.
