North Lake Tahoe Lateral Pipeline Replacement Project
Q&D Construction, a Southwest Gas contractor, will be replacing gas facilities on SR 28 between Kings Beach and Tahoe City, California. The work will include replacement of gas mains and services within the highway and on adjacent properties. Gas service to homes and businesses will not be interrupted. Residents and visitors to the area may experience traffic delays and should expect lane shifts and periodic lane closures within the work area. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained during construction.

April 28, 2024
Crews will hit the ground running on April 28th at 7:00pm. They will begin set up and utility potholing work on SR 28 in Tahoe City at Mackinaw Road. One crew will be working strictly in front of Mackinaw Rd. for the duration of the week. Bidirectional traffic will be maintained.
An additional crew will be working on services from Basecamp- Rocky Ridge. Traffic control will be reduced to single lane. When working on services, crews will be digging from mainline to edge of property during the night and replacing services on properties during the day. We will need access to gas meters on property. Residents and businesses will be notified a minimum of 48 hours in advance when we will be on property. Residents can expect no disruption in gas service.
Work will be 24 hours beginning Sunday, April 28th at 7:00pm until Friday, May 3rd at 12:00pm. No Parking is permitted in and around the work zone.April 21, 2024
On Tuesday 4/23/24 crews will begin marking out underground utilities in a rolling bi-directional closure in Tahoe City from Mackinaw Road to Basecamp. The closure will change to single lane from Basecamp to Rocky Ridge. Work will be from 8:00am-3:00pm.

Crews will continue installing the main gas line in Tahoe City from Grove Street working east. Bidirectional traffic will be maintained through Tahoe City. Monday 5/15/23 drilling equipment will be set up on the north side of Highway 28 across the street from Safeway in Tahoe City.
Businesses between Jackpine Street and Basecamp Tahoe City will have modified access. This closure will be in place for approximately 2 weeks, 24 hours a day.
Crews will continue potholing Highway 28 from Dollar Point to Carnelian Bay. Single lane traffic will be in place, monitored with flaggers.

Crews will begin excavation on mainline Sunday, May 7th at 7pm in Tahoe City. Work will begin at Mackinaw Rd heading east on Highway 28. Construction will take place 24 hours a day Sunday night through Friday afternoon. Bidirectional traffic will be maintained from Mackinaw Rd to Grove Street. No public parking is permitted in our closures during working hours.
An additional crew will be potholing throughout the week at Burton Creek, Carnelian Bay. Expect lane closures and traffic delays. Our mainline crew will move from Carnelian Bay back to Tahoe City. They will begin installing the pipeline starting at Grove Street heading east. We expect to be in Tahoe City for the next 2 weeks. Traffic for the mainline will be bidirectional from Grove St to Base Camp. Once we reach Base Camp traffic will be single lane, monitored by flaggers. The k rail located in front of Base Camp will be removed mid-week.
An additional crew will begin paving at Caledonia Circle in Carnelian Bay heading towards Anderson Street in Tahoe Vista. Work will begin Sunday night at 7pm and continue around the clock until Friday at 12pm. There will be no work from 3pm-7pm daily. Traffic will be single lane, monitored by flaggers and a pilot car.
